Jubilee Choir Comes to CCV

We were excited to welcome the Jubilee Choir from Hot Springs Baptist Church to sing for us!  They sang some wonder Christmas Carols that we all knew and loved.   We even got to sing along!

Beautiful voices!

Can you see that stunningly handsome man in the back/center of the choir?  That's one of our neighbors, Dewey!   We loved to hear him sing!

Round of applause!

There is something truly magical in hearing the old Christmas Carols every year.  It brings us back to our own childhoods...where Santa flew silently overhead and joy warmed your bones.   We loved hearing the choir sing and can't wait to have them back next year!

Handbell Choir "Jingles All The Way!"

The handbell choir has been practicing all year for our big Christmas Tour and today was the day!   We  had a last minute practice this morning at 9:45, the loaded the bus for our first performance at 11am at Brookfield Nursing and Rehab.   And that was just the start!

Ronny decorated the bus for us!  Don't you love the lights?

Our 11am performance went beautifully!

And look who we found!  Stell used to live with us at CCV.  His late sister, Verna, was one of the founding members of the Handbell Choir!  We wrangled him into playing a few songs with us.

After our morning show, we were hungry so we took a trip to Mr. Whiskers for lunch.

We were starving!

Doesn't that look wonderful?

After lunch, we went over to The Pines Nursing and Rehab for our second, longer performance.  This show lasted an hour and we were WHOPPED at the end of it!

Good job, gang!

We recruited a few folks to play with us here, too!

Even thought our tour is over, we aren't done yet!  We still have another big performance at CCV.  Be sure to join us-you won't want to miss this show!

Daisy Kicks Off Book Tour for Oswald & I

One of our most beloved residents, Daisy, recently published the memoirs of her late husband, Nick McDonald.   History buffs may recognize that name.   Officer Maurice N. "Nick" McDonald was the Dallas Police Officer who arrested Lee Harvey Oswald 50 years ago in relation to the assassination of Presidents Kennedy.

Before Nick passed away, he asked his family to publish his account of the arrest.   Daisy did so and the book has been titled Oswald and I.  On Sunday, we hosted a hook signing in the Stardust Room to kick off the tour.  Yesterday, Daisy and her daughter drove into Little Rock to do a TV Interview.   Today, she has two radio interviews and travels to Dallas tomorrow.

Linda went with Daisy and watched the interview from the sidelines.

Ever wonder what the news looks like on the other side of the camera?

We were so proud of Daisy!

Daisy handled herself beautifully!

Congratulations, Daisy!  We are so proud of you!

Fall Color Run

Our Annual Fall Color Run is one of our favorite trips each year.   This year, we chose to go to Old Washington State Park.

Bill took a moment to pray for us before we pulled out of the driveway.

We passed this really neat building on the way. Check out the colors on that tree!

We drove past miles and miles of pastures and fences.

This is where we got to eat!  It was a small Tavern that had been in business since 1832.  The state of Arkansas restored it and now it's back in business!

Pauline and Bill posed with a scarecrow before lunch.

This young lady served us during lunch.  She knew all kinds of fun facts about the Tavern and even sang to us!

This was so nice-we all got eat int he same room and had the place to ourselves.   It was great!

Bill wanted to race the horses.  The horses didn't seem to care.

The old court house is now the park's information center.

We found a beautiful quilt display.  The yellow one was made in the 1800s.

Jim tried to do a Scarlet O'Hara impersonation.

Joe always follows the rules.

Alcoholics!  Somebody should have told them that those bottles were full of plain grape juice.  No booze to be had, girls!

Neat!

We found the old court room upstairs.  Judge Tricia!

The jury was ready to hear the case of the angry bus driver!

OBJECTION!

A lost relative?

We found this neat building on the way home.

That porch is just beautiful.

The sun was just perfect over Lake Degray on the way home.

Stunning farmland.

Pass the snacks!

We had a wonderful time!  The sun was shining and we laughed harder than we had in ages.   We can't wait until next year!

The Twins Are Here!

Thanks to everyone who voted for Neva's Halloween Costume, she won Best Costume amongst all of our Sister Sunshine Properties!

Neva holding one of her twins.

Congratulations, Neva!  Your gift from Sunshine was a $50 prize basket.

She was so suprised when we annoucned at lunch that we had the basket

As Neva was sitting down, she said "They all just ASSUME Ed is the Father..."

HA!

Congratulations, Neva!   We are so proud that you represented CCV so well!

Veteran's Day 2013

One of the most important holidays to the CCV Family is Veteran's Day.  We are proud to be the home of so many wonderful Veterans.   This year, we were happy to welcome back Hot Springs High School's ROTC came to present The Colors before lunch.

This year, we were proud to see a Color Guard of women.

Everyone stood for the pledge and singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

We are SO proud of our Vets AND this wonderful country!!

Beautiful Job!

After the Presentation of the Colors and the invocation, we invited all of our Veterans to come through the line first.

CCV Would like to thank all our Veterans-Past, Present and Future, for their sacrifices to our country.   Their bravery and dedication is what has made this country such a great place to call home.

Happy Veteran's Day!
