Vist From Animal Planet's Daniel Ross!

We were delighted to welcome a very special guest speaker last Friday!  Mr. Daniel Ross from Animal Planet's TV show, American Stuffers!   Daniel owns and operates X-Treme Taxidermy in Romance, Arkansas.  Daniel and his lovely wife, LaDawn made the 3 hour trek to Hot Springs to visit with us!

Daniel showed us that inside "stuffed and mounted" deer is a styrofoam mold!   The only piece of a mounted deer that belongs to the deer is the hide and antlers!   Who knew?

This adorable Bunny was donated to Daniel from a local pet shop.  It had died of natural cuases and Daniel Freeze Dried the  bunny.
Daniel passed around a few animals.  We were all shocked by how soft they felt!
This adorable kitty is a pet that is waiting to be picked up by it's family.   It looked like he was just sleeping!
Daniel took some time to answer questions about being on the show.  He said that the TV crew followed them around for 5 months and completed 8 episodes.   He explained that over 100 shooting hours went into each and every episode.
This adorable critter is a chincilla.  He was amazingly soft!
Daniel brought lots of examples of work that he has done!   On the right is what Daniel calls "Arkansas Swamp Monster".   He created it using parts from several different animals.
This precious baby deer was beautiful.
Daniel is an absolute artist at his trade!
Daniel's wife, LaDawn, even spoke with us!
This lizard is not found in Arkansas at all!   It's actually from Iraq!   Daniel explained that when you freeze dry an animal, they loose their color.  The red and orange was painted on to make the lizard look exactly how he would have looked alive!
 Adorable!
Daniel and LaDawn were absolutely wonderful!  They were a pleasure to meet and we are so grateful that they took the time out of their busy lives to meet with us!

We won't soon forget the time that we got to meet real life celebrities-right here at Country Club Village!

First Ever CCV Open Mic Night! 5-4-12

Our first ever CCV Open Mic Night was a total success!   We had inviduals AND groups on stage!  We saw talent, jokes and fantastic entertaintment!   The program was simply wonderful!

Ken took us down memory lane with "Songs That Will Never Be Forgotten"

We had such a great turnout that it was standing room only!
Mildred and Hank had everybody doubled over in laughter at their skit and song about getting old.
Mr. Bob was one to watch-he always had the BEST jokes!
You can't fence in Mariou-O and Joanie!   Virginia stepped up and played piano for the duo and did a fabulous job!
Rose and Jeanne preformed a fantastic song for us!
Sam-Bo might just have had some of the "Corniest" Jokes of the night!
The Line Dancers never fail to impress-even with Mike and Lynn on Vacation!
Jimmie is an absolute artist!   He was hilarious!
And Oh....Tom!   This character is the creme de la creme of the silly!

We had a WONDERFUL show!  We could not have hoped for a better evening!   Be sure to get your act together-the first Open Mic Night was such a sucess that we will be planning another one shortly!

Are you ready for THIS week?  We've got big plans!   Join us!

Sparkley Stuff on the Porch 5-4-12

On Friday afternoon, the men were upstairs having their Men's Club Movie Afternoon and the ladies (plus Sam-Bo, of course!) headed downstairs for some Sparkly Stuff on the Porch!

Cheers!

The weather was beautiful!

Chef wanted to stop by to check on us.

Miss Audry was happy as a lark!

We had a great time just sitting together and relaxing.  We needed the time to rest up, becuase tonight is the first ever CCV Open Mic Night!

2012 Senior Symposium 5-3-12

Last Thursday, we gathered over 40 vendors to come to CCV and set up booths! Some were selling wonder items, some were giving away prizes-and all had valuable information to share with the CCV family! We had a fantastic time wandering from booth to booth and making new friends with some of our neighbors from here in Hot Springs! These fantastic ladies were selling some beautiful plants!
Joanie found some fabulous jewelry!
Gentiva was on hand to check our blood pressure!
What a fun atmosphere!
Meet Ashley from Us Bank! She often swings by to play Bingo with us!
Linda put on a brave face to have her blood sugar checked!
Stacy's face was....slightly less 'brave' and a bit more 'panic'.
Speaking of Blood sugar-check out this amazing spread that the chefs made for us to snack on!
And don't forget about the door prizes!
Good luck!
We were EXHAUSTED by the end of the day! We had a great time and loved seeing some old friends! But we had to rest up...more fun things are happening tomorrow!

Bob Hope Tribute Band 5-2-12

We had a BALL last week! We were so busy, in fact, that we couldn't keep the blog updated with everything we were up to! On Tuesday, we enjoyed a very englightening VA Seminar and on Wednesday, we let our hair down with a Bob Hope Tribute Band from California! Edith and Marion-O could barely sit still waiting for the show!
We had a HUGE turnout! This is only PART of the crowd!
This band was amazing!
Limbo!
Even Mavis and Hank did the Limbo!
Look who came up to see the show!
Now THAT is a hat!
We all had such an amazing time at the show! We can't wait to see this band come back next year! Stay tuned-more wonderful events from last week will be posted soon!
